Work as a team to keep Scoil Chormaic clean!
Litter-less Campaign 2020-2021 Our litter picking rota for the school is being carried out two days each week. This is all looked after by our committee. A monitoring survey is the first stage of this campaign where the pupils are not only picking up the litter, but recording and weighing the litter that is picked up so that we can see if there is a reduction on litter around our school grounds. December 2020 The Green School Committee and all of the children have done amazing work in decorating our Christmas tree this year. Our decoration theme this year is ‘Recycle and Reuse’. The children made some wonderful decorations from re-used/recycled materials. They did an amazing job!! Well done to everyone. The Winners of the competition are: Clara - Ms Moirs Fionn - Ms. Commins Nazar - Ms. Roche Patrick - Ms. Cummins Peter - Ms. O’Dwyer Thomas - Ms. Campion Ms. Tobin’s class Ms. O’Dwyer’s class Ms. Skehan’s class Ms. Barrett’s class November 2019 2019 has kicked off to a great start! The committee have been working very hard and their dedication to keeping our school green is remarkable. Each pupil carried out an online survey of their own awareness on litter and waste in our school. The results were positive overall but for the minimal percentage of pupils who were not aware of certain information – the committee informed each class using a PowerPoint presentation along with the tallied results of the survey. As each pupil bring their waste home, it is important to make sure that parents are aware of proper waste disposal practices, otherwise the problem is just being displaced and not reduced! We now collect batteries for recycling. If you have any at home, please send in to recycle.
November 2021 We were awarded our first Green Flag in June 2021 under the theme of Litter and Waste. We held our ‘Raising of the Flag’ ceremony in November and were joined by the Cashel Tidy Town’s committee. A sincere thank you to all the hard-working members of our Green-Schools committee and to everyone in the school. We are all working as a team! The committee celebrated our achievement in September last with an outdoor pizza party! September 2021 News just in…… We can now recycle SOFT PLASTIC. Remember all recycling must be CLEAN, DRY and LOOSE. We have a litter picking rota in action. Last year, the committee were in charge, and this year it is the responsibility of individual classes throughout the school. The feedback from classes is that they are really enjoying it and the responsibility it entails. Keep up the great work!
