.
Over the last few weeks in junior 7 Ms
Morleys class the children have been busy
settling in after their summer holidays.
We have been learning about Vincent Van
Gogh.
We got to dissect a sunflower head to dry
out the seed for spring time and that
inspired us to paint a sunflower picture just
like Van Gogh.
We learned that Vincent painted lots of self
portraits which depicted the way he was
feeling. We also painted a self portrait.
We listened to
the song Starry
Starry Night by
Don McLean and worked over 2 days
mixing colours
on our Starry
Night painting.
This week we have gone on some nature
walks and have gathered some autumn
leaves, beechnuts to examine in the class.
We hope you like our short video of our
lovely pieces on the walls outside junior 7
in Scoil Chormaic.

We have had a busy month in Scoil na nÓg,
welcoming back two children and four new
children joining Eyvonne's Early
Intervention Class. Our focus this week was
on sensory play. Eyvonne says it is good for
our brain development- it helps us to
develop problem solving skills, builds our
awareness of the properties of materials
and how they work, and that it leads to
better memory skills. She says that it helps
us to develop our language skills, motor
skills, play skills and social skills. What do
we think? We just think it's fun
This week in Ms. Sammon's Class we did lots of
fun learning activities linking with our theme of
Halloween.
We hope you enjoy this little video showcasing
just a snippet of the fun we had!
Pumpkin Play in Preschool with Evelyn
During the month of October, we were busy
getting ready for Halloween in the preschool. We
had lots of fun exploring and learning about
pumpkins. We were learning about the colours
of autumn, discovering the pumpkins using our
5 senses, reading books about pumpkins and
learning out 5 little pumpkin song. It was great
fun and we learned a lot!
Ms. Cummins’ Class
For this term our class focused on our Native
Irish Wildflowers. Each student created their
own unique colourful interpretation of what
they saw. As you can see, they turned out Bee-
utiful!
If you look closely you will see our pollinators,
such as bees and butterflies. We learned that
they rely on wildflowers as a source of food.
Our school has a wonderful sensory garden
which we plan to introduce all our native
wildflowers to surround our donated benches
from the Meagher family. These flowers have
many benefits for example; reducing the
number of pests who attack our crops.
Bee Happy, Bee kind, Bee mindful of the
wildflower!
